Why Do So Many Paver Driveway in Arlington Heights Fall Apart?

Many homeowners here in Arlington Heights turn to the option of getting a paver driveway installed.  This option brings  aesthetic harmony with your existing home and adds a touch of class.  It’s yet another way to give character to your existing landscape.

Now comes the very real outcome of most Arlington Heights paver driveways, they fail.  Actually, they fail miserably after one  Chicago winter.  To us, this is of no surprise.  We know that that the lowest bidder simply can not build the correct base needed to sustain harsh Chicago elements.

Let’s give you a quick crash course….

In order for any stationary object installed at ground level to be “dynamic”, it must have a solid platform.  This means the foundation has to use the correct gravel (yes, there are different types of rocks  and yes it makes a huge difference), every foot must be tamped by an industrial strenght tamper (few companies have this), and the snap edge must be installed with ground expansion in mind.

All of these “unseen” factors cause havoc and why so many paver driveways fall apart in Arlington Heights.  Now of course we like to brag about our crews, but if you get down to the facts, the lowest bidder is using cheap gravel, the snap edge is weak, the tamping is underwhelming, and the brick is laid with no care.

Of course here at Rooney, we know that we simply can not control everything.  We know that there might be a few driveways we’ve installed that may need some tweaking.  This is not a problem and that’s why we offer a lifetime guarantee.

So if there’s anything for you to take away from this, it’s to remember that you get what you pay for.
